This has been what Anne Shirley might call a dull, frowsy sort of week. I’m always a bit, for want of a better term, meh about January. I’ve decided to go on the dry for this month after a pretty crowded December. Usually my Friday evenings are a chance to unwind after a busy week with a bottle of wine and some cheese. Today I’ll have to find some other entertainment, like going to bed early with a book.
Marjorie had a puritanical streak in her, advising as she does in Live Alone and Like It against solo drinking and warning her readers that a woman who gets into the habit of drinking alone is treading on dangerous ground. Thankfully, she stands full square behind the woman who invites a gang over for cocktails. I think by the end of this month a cocktail party of the sort Marjorie would enjoy might be in order. Perhaps then a weekly round up post might have more exciting content.
